Amaravati: Sarella Veerendra Kumar, a resident of Ambedkar Konaseema district in Andhra Pradesh, returned home safely on Friday, thanks to the intervention of state Human Resource Development and IT Minister Nara Lokesh.

Veerendra, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia, landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, where he was warmly welcomed by his family. The return was made possible after Veerendra posted a distressing selfie video on social media, revealing his dire situation.

In the video, Veerendra explained how he had been deceived by an agent who promised him a job in Qatar but ended up being sent to Saudi Arabia. There, he was forced to work as a camel herder under harsh conditions without basic amenities. Desperate, he appealed for help, fearing for his life.

Minister Nara Lokesh responded to Veerendra's plea and directed the TDP NRI Forum to assist him. Following the minister’s intervention, Veerendra was repatriated safely.

This successful rescue is the second such case this month facilitated by Minister Lokesh. Earlier, an intervention led to the safe return of Siva from Chamarthi village, who had also been stranded abroad after being duped by an agent.

Veerendra Kumar expressed his gratitude to Minister Lokesh and the TDP NRI Forum for their prompt and effective assistance in securing his return.
