Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has rebranded several welfare schemes formerly named after YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, replacing them with names honoring historic figures who championed education.

Among the changes, the 'Jagananna Amma Vodi' scheme, which provided financial aid to mothers supporting their children's education, has been renamed 'Talliki Vandanam'. Similarly, the 'Jagananna Vidya Kanuka', which distributed education kits, is now called 'Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidya Mitra'.

Other renamed schemes include:

  • 'Jagananna Gorumudda' (mid-day meal program) now 'Dokka Seethamma Madhyahana Badi Bojanam'.

  • 'Mana Badi Nadu Nedu' (school renovation) is now 'Mana Badi Mana Bhavishyaktu'.

  • 'Sweccha' (sanitary napkin distribution) has been changed to 'Balika Raksha'.

  • 'Jagananna Animutyalu' (student awards) is now 'Abdul Kalam Prathiba Puraskaram'.

State IT, Electronics, and Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh criticized the previous YSRCP government's approach to education, promising to purify the sector and remove political influence.
