Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has strongly condemned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's recent remarks about private school teachers, accusing him of demeaning their significant role in shaping students’ futures. Former MP and BRS leader B Vinod Kumar has demanded the withdrawal of these comments and called for the introduction of a private teachers’ protection bill, akin to those for advocates and unorganised sector workers.

During a press meet at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Vinod Kumar criticized the Chief Minister's statements made at a recent government teachers meeting at LB Stadium. “Revanth Reddy’s assertion that individuals who failed tenth class are now teachers in private schools is not only incorrect but also deeply disrespectful,” he stated.

Highlighting the Right to Education Act, Vinod Kumar emphasized that all schools are required to employ trained and qualified teachers. He pointed out that if any schools fail to comply with this Act, the responsibility lies with the State government. He further noted that 51 percent of the 50 lakh students in Telangana are enrolled in private schools, with 2 lakh students transferring from government to private institutions last year alone. He urged the Chief Minister to address this trend instead of making disparaging remarks.

Vinod Kumar announced plans to advocate for a protection act for both teaching and non-teaching staff in private educational institutions, aimed at ensuring their dignity and security. He also revealed that the BRS intends to hold a massive meeting with one lakh teaching and non-teaching staff from private educational institutions in the near future.
