Amaravati: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has criticized Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly avoiding the presentation of a regular budget. Reddy contends that Naidu's reluctance stems from his inability to include numerous poll promises in the budget.
Speaking at a press conference in Tadepalli, Reddy suggested that Naidu fears presenting a full-year budget would force him to address unfulfilled promises made during the election campaign. According to Reddy, these promises include significant commitments such as the "Super Six" scheme, which comprises Rs 1,500 monthly pensions for women aged 19 to 59, 20 lakh jobs or Rs 3,000 monthly unemployment aid, free bus travel for women, three free cooking gas cylinders annually per household, Rs 15,000 for each school-going child per year, and Rs 20,000 annual aid for farmers.
Reddy alleged that Naidu's hesitation to present the budget is driven by a fear of public backlash if these promises are not reflected in the budget. He accused Naidu of creating a “fear psychosis” to prevent public protests against unmet promises.
The Chief Minister recently announced that the State Budget would be delayed by two months due to 'financial constraints,' raising questions about the state’s progress post-elections. Reddy also highlighted an increase in crimes and alleged police inaction under Naidu's administration, accusing the TDP-led government, along with the BJP and Janasena, of failing to address these issues effectively.
